Our Spring Pups
Missie whelped four beautiful sable pups, one with parti white, on February 17/18th. These are a 3/4 Cavalier x 1/4 Tibetan Spaniel mix, striving for the better heart health this mix can offer.
Missie is retired from breeding and will continue on here as a much loved pet.
Missie carries one "red" gene from her mother behind the sable color that she shows. We know this as she has been DNA tested.
In fact this means by odds, paired with Rocky, 1/2 of their pups should be red/blenheim, and only 1 of 4 sable or sable/white. Odds dictate the other 1 of 4 will be black & tan or tricolor.
The odds of 4 sables from this pair in one litter are shockingly low, so this was really a treat. If anyone good at odds can figure the numbers on this, I would love an email. We are thinking the odds are 1/256 or 0.4%!
Just goes to show, Missie does not like being dictated to . . . by us . . . or the odds.
